Kerry Katona took to Twitter this week to pay tribute to her foster mum Margaret Woodall, ahead of her funeral.

The 35-year-old has previously spoken out about her time with Margaret and husband Fred during her turbulent childhood.

Atomic Kitten singer Kerry wrote: “Laying to rest one of the most important people in my life today, my wonderful foster mum!! Thank you for everything you ever did for me xxx [sic].”

Kerry’s mum Sue also shared her thoughts, replying: “@KerryKatona7 And what a great foster mum you was.. rip mags xx [sic].”

Mum-of-five Kerry went to live with the Woodalls when she was 13-years-old, as her mum battled schizophrenia.

Fred, who gave Kerry away at her first wedding, said previously: “With everything she’s been through and all she’s achieved, [she’s] an inspiration to anyone.

Kerry had a difficult relationship with mum Sue when she was growing up

“She’s proof that anyone can make it if they want to enough. She was with us from 13 to 16 and we’re so proud of her.”

Because of Sue’s mental illness, Kerry lived with four different foster families while growing up.

In 2012 Kerry told The Guardian: “My earliest memory is watching my mum slit her wrists, when I was three. She was a manic-depressive, and she self-harmed until I was 15.

“She’s got the marks all the way up her wrists, which is why I’ve got the names of my two elder daughters, Mollie and Lilly, tattooed on my own wrists.”

Kerry added: “I had to take on a lot as a child. We lived in Warrington and I went to eight schools, I had four sets of foster parents, lived in three refuges.”
