Rumours surrounding the engagement started earlier this month, when the 32 year-old singer appeared in a friend’s Instagram video wearing a sparkly new ring on her left hand.
Kelly has been dating Tim on and off for four years, but the couple have kept their relationship very private, avoiding being pictured together in public.
The marriage will be Kelly’s first, although she was previously engaged to American football player Roy Williams before they split in January 2005 - two months before their planned wedding date.
‘I was too young for marriage,’ the Kelly told a UK magazine in 2011. ‘But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it.’
She added that she’d be ‘ready for marriage when the right time comes.’
In her latest single, ‘Dirty Laundry,’ Kelly sings about an abusive boyfriend and her jealousy of former Destiny’s Child group member Beyoncé.
Speaking recently about the track, Kelly said: ‘It was very emotional. It took me days to record. I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it.’
Kelly and Tim have yet to announce any further details about their engagement or upcoming nuptials… but we’re hoping for a Destiny’s child reunion!
