Soaking up the sunshine in Hawaii ahead of her brother Jack’s wedding, Kelly Osbourne revealed her toned figure as she lounged poolside in a neon bikini recently.

And size 6-8 Kelly looked loved-up with boyfriend Matthew Mosshart, a vegan chef who she credits with helping her keep her incredibly slim figure.

While Kelly was happy to take a few days off her diet for the family celebrations as Jack married model fiancée Lisa Stelly last week, she stuck to her hardcore daily fitness routine, hitting the resort gym – sometimes twice a day – during the break.

A source reveals: “Kelly was a bridesmaid at Jack’s wedding, so she really made an effort to diet beforehand. She got lots of compliments when she stepped out in her bikini – everyone was telling her she was a knockout.

“She had been on a super-strict eating plan for a month before the wedding, sticking to a 1,000-calorie-a-day diet. She has also been running on the treadmill for around two miles a day, followed by sets of weights and then a yoga class.”

The source adds: “She’s been keeping that up on holiday. She’s relaxed her diet a little, but she’s making sure she’s hitting the gym every day and going for a power walk in the evening. Back in LA, she does hardcore circuit training twice a week – a mix of cardio and body-resistance exercises – and will do at least one Pilates class every week.”

The 5ft 2 star, 27 – who has publicly battled her weight over the years – has fluctuated between a size 16 and a 6.

And Kelly’s admitted to friends that to keep in shape this time around, she’s had to be ultra-disciplined with her fitness routine, saying: “It’s taken a lot of hard work to get this slim, and it’s going to be even harder to stay slim.”

A source reveals: “Kelly’s tiny right now, but she says it’s a real struggle and she has to be rigorous with her diet and fitness to keep the weight off.

“She’s gone up and down so much over the years and, like most people, it affects her self-confidence. She says it’s bulls**t to pretend otherwise.”

After dramatically losing 3st 5lbs during her stint on Dancing With The Stars in 2009, Kelly’s weight has yo-yoed. But she told Closer last month that she’d dropped over 4 t in the past three years due to a sensible diet and regular exercise. And the presenter is desperate to keep it off – especially since she’s become the face of Madonna and her daughter Lourdes’ new fashion range Material Girl.

But it’s Matthew, 28, -who she's been dating for a year- that Kelly says has helped her stay on the “straight and narrow.” As well as encouraging her to cut out sugar and junk food from her diet, the chef cooks super-healthy meals most nights.

A typical day’s diet for Kelly now includes boiled eggs for breakfast, grilled chicken salad for lunch and fish with steamed veg for dinner.

A pal reveals: “Kelly struggles a little to stick to her diet some days, so she tries to just snack on nuts and seeds to keep the calorie count down. She worries a lot about what she eats and says it’s because she gains weight fast.

“She never wants to go back to how she looked before, particularly now she’s doing the modelling work, but she knows 1,000 calories a day isn’t really sustainable long-term. She’s working out on top of that, too, so it’s a huge lifestyle commitment.”

And Harley Street dietitian Nigel Denby tells Closer that Kelly could now relax her extreme diet but still keep her slim figure long-term.

He says: “I’d suggest someone of Kelly’s height and build needs around 1,700 calories a day and just half an hour a day of brisk exercise. That’s a more attainable, lifelong plan that should see her keep off the weight for good.

Extreme diets are unsustainable and run the risk of making you put the weight back on quicker in the future. Drastically reducing your calorie count makes the body go into starvation mode, so when you start eating more food your body stores as much fat as possible.

Kelly’s new fitness kick marks a fresh chapter in her life, after battling an addiction to painkillers, which saw her enter rehab in 2004, 2005 and 2009.

And revealing to Closer recently that it was her stint on Dancing With The Stars that helped her get back on track, Kelly said she’s now happier than ever after finally beating her drug and weight demons.

She said: “The weight loss was a plus that came after getting my s**t together. So much has happened in the past 10 years, but I really am in the best place I’ve ever been.”
