The ‘Peacock’ singer says that she still hasn’t heard from her ex-hubby since he split up with her via text on New Year’s Eve of 2011.
Katy, 28, has admitted to having suicidal tendencies since the split. In her alarming revelation the singer confessed to having found herself lying on the bathroom floor, considering ending it all.
She said ‘There came a point this past year where I needed to reflect and sit down and be like, “Okay, what’s going on inside of me, and what are some things I need to get clear and deal with? How can I help myself get to the next level and grow?” I guess you just have to be open and ready for it.’
She disclosed that she found that hanging around in the park helped her to alleviate the pain from the failed marriage.'I was hanging out in Central Park one day with my DJ friend Mia Moretti, and we came across these roller skaters just skating around to this deep house music, and I told Mia, “I have to write a song like that!”’
The California girl also said that throwing herself into the making of her new album, Prism, helped distract her from her troubles.
‘Music is so powerful and spiritual—it’s like the sixth sense. It moves people in so many different ways; it creates memories, it sets the tone, it sets the scene.’
As an autobiographical songstress, many of the lyrics on the new album reveal some of her darkest moments. A song called 'Ghost' digs at the reports Russell demanded a divorce via text. It contains the line: 'You sent the text / It’s like the wind changed your mind.'
Katy is now dating fellow singer John Mayer.
