Speaking on American TV, John said romantically about working with his beloved: ‘Katy is a superstar for a reason… That's the thing about working with somebody you love. You get to see them.'

Explaining the logic behind featuring Katy in his new video for single ‘Who You Love,’ the musician continued: ‘I had to make a video in order to get to see my girlfriend.'

Despite declaring their love for one another through their music, Katy also suggested that relationships are not always easy. She said: 'Relationships are kind of like riding a bull. You hang on for dear life… Sometimes you get a little buck here and there and sometimes you get things thrown at you but you get back on.'

Katy was sure to return some praises for her beau, saying, 'John has a very gentle, authentic touch to everything he does.'

The couple admitted that they have become aware of the scrutiny they are under due to living in the public eye.

Katy and John are aware that their relationship is under a lot of scrutiny.

In the interview they say how this was combatted whilst filming their new video: 'We don’t quite know what kind of body language we’re supposed to be exhibiting… You get too close it's a little too touchy feely and you get too far away and people say ''I don’t see chemistry''.’

John said: ‘It's a pretty big moving target to be a couple and have a song but there’s an authenticity to it.'

Perhaps proving that they really are soul mates, Katy finished John’s sentence for him by adding: 'It transcends us, it's more about the song.'

Could 2014 bring the sound of wedding bells for John and Katy?
