Following news that Taylor Swift’s video for Bad Blood had been nominated for a prestigious MTV VMA, the Twittersphere has gone beserck over a new war of words emerging between the singer and ‘rival’ Nicki Minaj.
Nicki hit headlines after claiming that MTV favoured women with ‘slim bodies’ and implied that racism in music was behind her being snubbed in the VMA nominations.
Thinking that Nicki was directing a dig at her, Taylor, 25, responded: “I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe on of the men took your slot..”
Pretty soon, the Internet was awash with commentary on Taylor’s ‘ego’ and Nicki’s anger at the nominations.
Now Katy Perry- the singer whom Taylor reportedly wrote ‘Bad Blood’ about- has waded in on pop music’s latest feud.
She fumed in a direct reference to Taylor: “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalises on the take down of a woman…”
Ouch!
To add salt to the wound, Nicki even ‘favourited’ Katy’s tweet.
Katy then claimed that MTV were wrong to leave Rihanna’s video for ‘B**** better have my money’ out of the mix, writing: “The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1... @MTV”
