Speaking to The Sun, Katie admitted the 27-year-old reached out to her after she spoke about his court case in her magazine column.
The mother-of-five said: 'He was direct messaging me during the case. It’s weird, isn’t it? He was saying, 'Thanks for the support,' and stuff. Just all general chit-chat.'
Katie added: 'Because I mentioned him in my column, he was referencing that. I wasn’t exactly supporting him, but everyone who goes through a trial will be the only one who knows what really happened.'
Back in March, 36-year-old Katie used her column to urge readers not to base their opinion of Oscar on 'other people's theories portrayed by the media.'
She wrote: 'we are all equal when it comes to judicial undertakings '

Evidently touched by Price's support, Oscar reached out to Katie to thank her on social media.
The athlete, who shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013, was sentenced to five years in prison last week. It is expected he will serve just one sixth of this time in jail.
