During her latest appearance on Loose Women, Katie Price opened up about life with disabled son Harvey – and confessed that, had she known, she would have had an abortion.

Harvey, 13, suffers from multiple disabilities, including blindness, Prader-Willi syndrome, ADHD and he is also on the autistic spectrum.

This week 37-year-old spoke openly about her eldest son – from her relationship with former footballer Dwight Yorke – and insisted she has huge respect for families going through the same thing.

She said: “As harsh as it sounds, if I had known he was going to be born blind, I probably would have aborted him.”

Katie was just 23-years-old when she fell pregnant with Harvey and, after relationship with Dwight broke down, faced the prospect of becoming a single mother. But, despite everything she and Harvey have been through, the former glamour model said she would adopt another child with disabilities.

“Now, no way. If I got pregnant again and they said they had disabilities I’d keep it,” Katie continued. “I’d adopt a child with disabilities.”

But Katie received some backlash for the candid chat, forcing her to take to social media to defend her comments.

She wrote: “I’m really upset people have taken out of contest what I said on @loosewomen today. Harvey is my life and I am so proud of him! [sic].”

And although coping with Harvey is a daily challenge for Katie, who is also mum to Junior, 10, Princess Tiaamii, eight, Jett Riviera, two, and one-year-old Bunny, she wouldn’t change a thing.

Katie added: “It’s challenging but rewarding. I don’t think anyone should be ashamed of a child with disabilities.

“Anyone who’s a carer, mother, anyone dealing with disabilities, I have so much respect [for them] because I know what goes into it.”

While some hit out at Katie for her comments, many took to Twitter to praise her for her inspiring approach to life with Harvey.
