Keeping children away from technology is one of the biggest debates of the past few years. Are we losing our children to Iphones and Ipads? Should their usage be monitored up until a certain age? Are we exposing our children to dangerous online content? There’s endless questions and thousands of differing opinions.

Showbiz superstar Katie Price recently hit headlines for allowing her son Junior, 11, and daughter Princess, nine, on Instagram.

Their profiles are PUBLIC not private profiles that can only be seen by (approved) family and friends – anyone and everyone can access them. You also have to be 13 to have an Instagram account.

Despite Katie admitting that she will be ‘vetting’ both their profiles, people flooded the comments with a barrage of criticism.

One wrote: “Too young... too many dangers even when parents are monitoring.. sorry my opinion!”

Another added:“Aww straight away on Juniors page (the photo with his food) some cracker bloke has commented ' lick my tits' then 'sorry I'm into your mama' honestly such sick sick people. It's a disgrace when you can't relax letting your children have Social media.”

However, the Loose Woman has now hit back at her critics, insisting that she is not a bad parent.

Speaking on Loose Women, she said: "I'm in no way a bad parent. I've got 5 beautiful, healthy loving very well-mannered children.

"My kids have been brought up in the industry through their dad and me, everyone knows who they are.

Insisiting that social media is the way forward for them both to strengthen their careers, she added:"They get modelling jobs themselves, and social media is the way forward.

"I find it an insult when people try and give me stick for how I bring up my kids. I'm a really good mum and I will protect them with my heart."

Do you allow your children on social media? What do you think is the perfect age?
