Earlier this week, Katie Piper told ITV’s Lorraine that her recent surgery and problems she has been suffering with her oesophagus have meant she and James have had to postpone getting organised for their big day.
As many fans of the inspiring campaigner and TV presenter will know, Katie was the victim of a horrific acid attack back in 2008.
The incident left her with severe burns and, ever since, she has been forced to undergo surgery and treatment in order to recover.
Recently, the mum-of-one has been in and out of hospital due to complications with her oesophagus, which has left her unable to eat solid food.
And the 31-year-old, just a few weeks ago, underwent an operation on her nose to help her to breathe properly.
She told Lorraine: "My nose was closing with scar tissue, the nostrils narrowed and shut.
"I had to have a skin graft taken from my buttocks and the tissue taken out, then the nose lined with new skin and these retainers."
This, as well as the fact she’s expecting another big operation this year, has left it doubtful as to whether or not Belle’s parents will be able to tie the knot as planned.
She said: "I've been really busy and I've had a lot of problems with my oesophagus so I'm not able to eat at the moment.
“I’ve been having meal replacement milkshakes, it's 500 calories in one drink. I drink about three of those a day.
“[And] I'm hoping to have a big operation on my stomach at the end of the year, so we're not sure about the wedding at the moment."
But, despite everything, Katie still has been focusing on the positives - including her successful new TV show, Extraordinary Births.
Sharing a photo of her hand clasped tightly around that of fiancé James’, the mum-of-one revealed that they were excitedly watching the show premiere together.
She said: “Gin and tonic with my man and the #ExtraordinaryBirths crew - waiting for the show to come on!
“Are you tuning in?”
But, while that was exciting in itself (and Channel 4’s Extraordinary Births was phenomenally good), we found ourselves more than a little distracted by her sparkling engagement ring.
Check it out:
Isn’t it sparkly?
We’ve seen glimpses of her ring in the past, but nothing as close up as this - and it’s pretty incredible to see all the detail that’s gone into her customised finger bling.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Lewis Malka - the man who designed the ring - opened up about the one-of-a-kind design.
He said: "Katie chose a double halo design with a large, central, brilliant-cut diamond, surrounded with two rows of smaller, micro-set, round diamonds.
“This is attached to a pave split shank and made with the purest platinum."
Katie, at the time, added firmly: “It's everything I wanted and more!”
It’s beautiful, isn’t it?
