In 2008, Katie Piper was was left scarred by a horrific acid attack organised by a violent ex-boyfriend.
The beautiful and courageous campaigner is now happily engaged and a mother-of-one, but she has never forgotten that her life changed that day.
And now Katie has shared shocking images of herself shortly after the attack on her Instagram, reminding her followers just how far she has come since then.
The first snap, showing Katie in a burns recovery mask, is captioned: "There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind."
She wrote alongside the picture: "Even in our darkest times things truly can get better. For everyone who feels like they are stuck in a dark place – please keep the faith."
The inspiring mum-of-one shared a second image from later in her recovery and, referencing her attacker, captioned it: "Don't let anyone silence you."
She added: "When I look in the mirror my scars no longer upset me, they just remind me I am stronger than the person who tried to hurt.
"We all have scars whether they are on the skin or the soul. Remember only those who survive wear scars.
"Next time you look in the mirror repeat to yourself I'm proud to be a survivor."
The inspiring woman, who founded the Katie Piper Foundation to help others learn to live with their burns and scars, received an overwheleming amount of support from fans over the pictures.
One wrote: "When this pic was taken I bet you never dreamed at how far you would have come along-both physically and mentally."
Another added: "Beautiful, incredible, strong, brave, inspirational lady!!
"Most people think they have problems or challenges and most will never go through a quarter of what you've been through in their lifetime! It's Monday at work and the blues hit ....until I opened Instagram and saw this! @katiepiper_ thank you for sharing and spreading positivity xxx"
Katie, however, does not want all the focus to be on her; she has added that she would love to hear from followers who have been through a similar experience.
The bride-to-be wrote: "If you have faced adversity and ove come it I would love to hear your story."
She asked them to share their stories at her website.
