It’s very rare that Katie Piper shares uncensored photos of her baby daughter on Instagram.
The inspiring campaigner and TV presenter, who underwent hundreds of operations to rebuild her face, is understandably a little uneasy about strangers being around her little girl.
Katie explained: "When Belle was born people tweeted terrible things like 'she's as ugly as her mum', and I don't want her to have that when she goes to school.
"When strangers approach me for a picture or a chat when I'm out with her, I get nervous because of the attack.
"I try hard not to show it, as I don't want Belle to be affected by my anxiety over something from the past.
"But it's definitely made me more protective."
However, the proud mum recently took to Instagram to share an adorable photo of her little girl’s summer hairstyle - and did not use any censoring tools whatsoever.
Unfortunately, plenty of people on social media decided to criticise Katie’s parenting skills - insisting that she needed to do more to protect Belle’s scalp.
One wrote: “It looks very sore, is that dandruff? :( don't let her scalp get sunburn [sic]”
Another added: “Propolis cream or aloe gelly would help your beautiful little lady’s scalp.”
“Eek, that looks painful,” said one more.
However Katie was not about to take the comments lying down.
She said firmly: “Belle is black Caribbean and has factor 50 sun cream on her scalp to avoid getting burnt.”
One of her fans was clearly delighted by Katie’s no-nonsense response, writing: “You tell them dummies, they thought she had dandruff. FFS! are they ever nice? [sic]”
Katie wasn’t deterred from sharing more photos of her little girl splashing around on holiday - although she did take care to make sure the shots were taken from a distance, and did not include Belle’s face.
She also shared a photo of baby Belle’s VERY messy breakfast, again taking care to keep her little girl’s face from view.
Katie captioned the sweet shot jokingly: “I'm late on the same morning B decides she should hold the porridge spoon! “This could go on for a while…”
We’ve all been there, Katie!
