Katie Piper had been preparing to celebrate Belle's special day on 14th March with her hubby-to-be Richard James Sutton, but was sadly unable to take part in the party after there were some issues with her routine surgery two days earlier.

The 31-year-old was, as many readers will know, the victim of a horrific acid attack arranged by her then ex-boyfriend in 2008.

While she has since recovered and gone on to become a source of inspiration for many people across the world, the TV presenter often has to have operations on her throat as a result of swallowing acid during the attack.

Two days before Belle’s birthday, according to sources at the Mail Online, Katie was admitted to hospital to have some of her scar tissue stretched open.

However a slight side effect reportedly caused her oesophagus to tear, meaning that she was forced to miss her baby’s first birthday.

She wrote sadly on Twitter: “Thanks for all the birthday tweets for Belle! Unfortunately I'm In hospital but her dads tell me she's had a lovely party.”

She later added: “Hoping tomorrow will be discharge day from hospital for me! 7 days without my daughter- feels so cut off!”

And, today, her wish was granted.

The mum-of-one tweeted happily: “Home with my babies!”

Despite the disappointment at missing out on Belle's celebrations, we bet Katie will be able to have an extra-special belated birthday party with her little mini-me.

We’re so happy to hear she’s feeling better and back home where she belongs.
