Katie Piper has shared a heartfelt Instagram post ten years after the acid attack which left her scarred and blind in one eye.
In March 2008, Katie's ex boyfriend David Lynch arranged for his friend Stefan Sylvestre to throw sulphuric acid at her. She was just 24.
She underwent 40 operations to treat her burns following the horrendous attack and at one point was forced to wear a plastic face mask for up to 23 hours a day.
Ten years on from the acid attack, Katie has posted a message on social media urging fans to 'take back the power'.
The mum of two uploaded a snap of herself applying lipstick with the caption: "10 years ago to the day today, I found it hard to dig deep, believe and trust in when people would say ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’...
"Now I look in the mirror and see the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through, it is now my strength, scars maybe be permanent but I am who I am today, take back the power and live your best life..
Fans applauded Katie's bravery, with one commenting 'You inspire me what an incredible woman you are x'
Another wrote, 'You have come a long way and through a very harrowing experience.Your courage is amazing. You inspire me and others around you.Huge hugs go out to you and your family.'
