The man who carried out the acid attack that changed Katie Piper's life forever could be released from prison in a matter of weeks.
Stefan Sylvestre was imprisoned indefinitely in 2009, after he threw sulphuric acid in the TV presenter's face on the order of her ex-boyfriend.
But the criminal's legal team has now applied for a parole hearing and will attempt to convince the board that he is no longer a danger to the public.
The hearing is set for April, so if successful, Sylvestre could be walking the streets as early as next month.
It isn't the first time he has applied for parole. In December 2015, he was denied freedom as he was still deemed to be a threat to the public.
Katie, 33, wrote about hearing that he was seeking release from prison in her autobiography, saying, "The two of them had taken so much from me, and now this man's punishment might soon be over.
"I thought, "I'm the one with the life sentence. Not him. He can change his identity, change his name, get a new job, a partner, move on, but I can't. I can't pretend it didn't happen because it's all over my face".
The author also shared a quote on Instagram that seemed to be about the news, as it read, "God protect me from anything that wasn't sent by you."
Katie's ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch planned the attack after their relationship ended and is now serving life in prison.
After the life-changing incident took place in 2008 when she was just 24, Katie has undergone over 40 operations and has been left blind in one eye.
She has since found happiness with her husband Richard James Sutton, who she married on 6th November 2015.
The couple have two children together, Belle Elizabeth, four, and three-month-old Penelope Diane.
