The controversial commentator took to Twitter to tell followers she had been booked to speak to youngsters at Prior’s Field School, which is an independent boarding and day school in Surrey for girls aged 11-18.

She wrote: “Super excited to be joining the girls at Prior's Field School later today. 'We are not all equal, some just aren't worth the effort' + Q&A.”

Following her appearance, Katie thanked the teens she met during her appearance, writing on the social networking site: “Lovely audience at Prior's Field School ahead of their debating competition tonight. We are not all equal. Some just aren't worth the effort.”

Katie quickly came under fire for suggesting to school children that they ‘weren’t equal’.

One follower wrote: “Strong women don't waste their time dragging other women down, they are secure in their own skin women.”

Another commented angrily: “Absolutely shocking that you've been invited to go there.”

One of Katie’s followers even went as far to criticise the school, tweeting: “Why would a school like that stoop so low as to have someone like you as a host? Didn't your reputation precede you?”

As usual, Katie divided followers with a small majority sticking up for the 39-year-old.

One follower wrote: “Animal Farm has it sussed: all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others . Read that in 1983!”
