Katie Hopkins has, once again, caused outrage on Twitter after slamming the mothers of children with ADHD.
She tweeted: "Another expert comes out to say ADHD is not a diagnosis. It is a fabrication. The flood gates are open. Poor mothering is not a condition."
She later added: "ADHD is a label bad mums like to wear to excuse their poor parenting skills. A bottle of rattling pills is not the cure."
Her comments (naturally) attracted criticism on Twitter, with one user accusing her of "medicating" her own children - along with a less than flattering shot of the rent-a-gob with her family.
Katie was referring to a recent report by Dr Bruce Perry, a neuroscientist at the ChildTrauma Academy in Houston, Texas, who said that ADHD is not a real disease.
He said: "It is best thought of as a description . . . any one of us at any given time would fit at least a couple of those criteria."
He said ADHD was a label for a set of symptoms, adding: "It’s a description rather than a real disease."
The doctor, considered by some to be "the best in his field", added that medication is NOT the answer for children, saying: "Taking a medication influences systems in ways we don’t always understand."
He added that other therapies, such as yoga or playing the drums, can be as effective as medication.
Do you agree - should parents stop medicating children who display signs of ADHD?
