But all that changed on Monday evening’s episode of the show, which saw Katie raise an issue very close to Price’s heart.
As the former glamour model explained that her disabled son Harvey has a tax-funded driver to get him to and from school, (from Sussex to South West London), Hopkins’ ears pricked up.
‘He has a driver who takes him to school each day. He travels with a special nurse who looks after him and the driver is mindful of the situation – it’s tax-payer funded, which is good,’ Price stated.
An unimpressed Hopkins replied: ‘With the amount you earn I find that tricky, when you could afford it yourself.’
Price however defended her actions, saying that not only has she always paid her taxes, but she doesn’t see the problem in taking help if it is offered by the government.
Amazingly, the controversial pair walked away from one another before things could really kick off, but mum of five Katie later admitted that she was uncomfortable talking about her kids in that manner.
‘She’s not a politician’ Price reminded viewers. ‘I’d have this conversation with a politician.’
What do you think - is this a fair use of tax payer’s money? Or do you think if someone earns above a certain threshold they should have to foot the bill themselves.
