The former Apprentice contestant opened up about her mystery visit to A&E on Twitter, writing: “Big thank you to the team at Hillingdon hospital.
“The work they do in very difficult situations is remarkable.
“Drunks and druggies are cruel.”
Somewhat surprisingly, many people were quick to support Katie over her comments about alcoholics and drug abusers taking up valuable hospital time.
One wrote: "I think Katie has a very good point. Far too many drugs and druggies create trouble in hospitals... should not be tolerated."
Another added: "It is always self-inflicted. Time spent caring for them is time wasted for others."
Despite this rallying of support, others were quick to accuse the TV personality herself of being admitted to A&E due to an alcohol-related incident.
However Katie was quick to dispel these rumours, writing: “My time at A & E was not alcohol related.
“Thank you for your concern.”
She tweeted: "Glaswegian ebola patient moved to London's Royal Free Hospital.
"Not so independent when it matters most are we jocksville?"
Police Scotland confirmed they are looking into complaints they have received but they did not reveal how many had been made.
Detective Inspector Glyn Roberts said: "We have received a number of complaints regarding remarks made on Twitter.
"Inquiries are ongoing into the nature of these tweets and to establish any potential criminality.
"Police Scotland will thoroughly investigate any reports of offensive or criminal behaviour online and anyone found to be responsible will be robustly dealt with."
The news of Katie’s hospital dash comes after her online outburst about the Ebola virus, which saw the rumoured CBB star poke fun of Scotland after a patient in Glasgow was diagnosed with the deadly disease.
