But supporters and critics alike needn’t have been worried, as Katie Hopkins was simply taking a breather from her overactive social media life, that had become slightly overwhelming.
Explaining herself, Katie wrote in her Sun column on Friday: ‘I took a brief sabbatical from Twitter this week to see what life is like in Twitter silence.’
‘And it is actually pretty peaceful. It frees up my time to do useful things like mend my fence and plant a magnolia.’
‘I started to read and hear things usually muffled by the defending roar of my supporters and detractors.’
‘I read useful words by wise people, I heard my children laughing playing footie in the garden and even listened to Radio 4, until I saw sense.’
‘Our lives are so noisy these days - Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, work calls, home phone. Remembering you are in charge of the noise and the volume setting is a useful lesson in control.’
So, it seems that even super-opinionated Hopkins likes the sound of silence every so often. Who knew?
Do you like to go cold turkey on social media every so often? How do you achieve this?
