Gary Barlow has come under fire after his questionable tax affairs were brought to light, with many calling for him to return his OBE after it was revealed a partnership he was involved with was a "tax avoidance scheme".
One particularly sick individual even hacked into Gary's Twitter, posting a tasteless reference about his and wife Dawn's stillborn baby daughter.
The post read: "Your dead baby’s going to rot in hell yu f*****."
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, it is Katie Hopkins who has leapt to Gary's defence, praising the Take That singer and calling for the general public to stop "braying after Gary's blood".
Writing for The Sun, she said: "Gary Barlow wasn’t even trying to do anything wrong. He invested money in a business set up to help young musicians.
"Let’s remember what Gary has done for our country.
"He hosted the Diamond Jubilee celebrations for the Queen – and made us feel proud to be British.
"He made a promise to perform at the closing party of the Olympic ceremony, and refused to let his country down despite his daughter being stillborn days before."
Katie Hopkins went on to address recent comments made by Margaret Hodge, who has demanded that Gary return his OBE following the scandal.
She said: "Margaret Hodge, the bitter old bat from the committee of counting pennies, says he should give back his OBE. Silly Lily Allen has hinted she feels the same way.
"No, Margaret. He will not give back his award. It is nothing compared to the badge of honour he wears for his country.
"He is the best of British."
