Since the weekend the Beckham brand has been under threat following a reported email hack.
David Beckham was in the firing line when hackers claimed that they had managed to get hold of his private emails in which he reportedly slammed singer Katherine Jenkins for receiving an OBE in 2014.
But now Katherine has hit back at the reports that she didn’t deserve the honour.
The alleged comments in David’s emails to his PR manager, Simon Oliveria, reportedly said: "Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F***** joke."
However, Katherine’s manager, Professor Jonathan Shalit, has come forward to quash claims that she wasn’t a deserving candidate.
Talking to The Sun, Jonathan said: "I say Katherine was awarded an OBE for her services to music and charity.
"With regards to the taking of coke which Katherine has courageously publically admitted with great honesty – this was when she was in her early 20s still studying, over a decade before she was awarded her OBE and started her recording career."
He also went on to point out that Katherine had visited many British troops in the Middle East and Europe – from Iraq to Afghanistan, Cyprus to Kosovo – and that she had a successful singing career, selling more than 10 million CDs.
The hack also alleges that David only engaged in charity work for UNICEF to secure a knighthood, and claims that he made expensive demands for his time and refused to put any of his own money into charitable events, allegedly saying: "I don’t want to put my personal money into this cause… If there was no fund, the money would be for me. This f*cking money is mine."
A spokesperson for David Beckham said: "This story is based on outdated material taken out of context from hacked and doctored private emails from a third party server and gives a deliberately inaccurate picture."
