Kate Wright has opened about leaving her showbiz past behind and has said she made the decision to step away from the limelight to help bring up fiancé Rio Ferdinand’s three children.
Kate, who shot to fame on TOWIE in 2015 as the ex girlfriend of heartthrob Dan Edgar, met husband-to-be Rio in 2017 and the pair quickly fell in love.
Rio lost wife Rebecca Ellison, 34, to breast cancer in 2015. Kate has since become stepmother to Rio’s three children: Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10 and Tia, eight.
In 2017, despite amassing over a million Instagram followers and lucrative deals thanks to her time as a reality star, Kate made the decision to step away from the spotlight.
Now in an interview with The Sun, Kate has revealed that she made the decision for her stepchildren, as they “needed someone at home” following the death of their mother.
Kate and Rio got engaged last year after the footballer popped the question on holiday with the three kids. And the star has now revealed that the kids have been at the forefront of the couple’s minds since they began a relationship.
She said: “I had two choices. I’m in this world with lots of drama and then I met Rio and the children and, I thought, ‘I’m with these kids, who have lost their mum, they don’t need a woman who is out all the time...
