Since leaving the hospital with their son on Tuesday 23rd July, the couple have not appeared in public with the Prince, opting to spend some time as a family at Kate's family home in Buckinghamshire.

A source said the couple chose not to go down the expected route of picking an official photographer as they were reluctant to 'burst the happy little family bubble'.

Official pictures of the Royal children in the past have included Sir Cecil Beaton and Lord Snowdon.

As ever, new mum Kate looked radiant and refreshed - despite William's recent comments that baby George 'is little bit of a rascal'. In one picture, in which family pets Lupo and Tilly also star, Kate is wearing a £46 fuchsia-coloured dress by maternity wear firm Seraphine.

In the other the couple stand beaming, with William looking relaxed and happy and very much the comfortable new father.

Speaking yesterday about the arrival of his first child, William spoke about how important it has been to him to be heavily involved in parenting chores. He admitted to changing the first nappy and revealed it was very important to him to be able to be independent in his choices when bringing up baby.

‘We’ve all grown up differently to other generations. And I very much feel if I can do it myself I want to do it myself.' he said.

And speaking of his decision to eschew drivers when leaving the hospital he said ‘ I think driving your son and your wife away from hospital was really important to me. And I don’t like fuss so it’s much easier to just do it yourself.'

Kensington Palace confirmed the pictures were taken in the garden of Kate's family home, on an inexpensive camera in early August. While some may criticise Michael's decision to shoot straight into the light, others have decribed the pictures as 'refreshing'.

Photographer Brian Aris told the Mail ‘The decision to take them in such an informal manner means they, perhaps, lack the level of gravitas that would normally be expected.'
