It’s a good day for Kate Garraway and her two children as husband Derek Draper has finally returned home after spending over a year in hospital following complications from Covid-19.
Derek is the longest surviving Covid patient in the UK, and has been under 24-hour supervision in hospital after suffering from liver, kidney and heart failure and being placed in a medically induced coma for four months.
And after Kate shared the emotional moment he first woke from his coma as part of her documentary, Finding Derek, last month, the Good Morning Britain presenter appeared on the show this morning to share the wonderful news that Derek has finally returned home to his family.
"As we pulled up, I could see two little faces of Darcey and Billy looking out the window and I could see Billy literally say 'He's here!' and they sort of ran out and ran forward," she said of the moment Derek saw his kids again for the first time.
CHECK OUT: Piers Morgan Good Morning Britain rumoured replacements
Piers Morgan Good Morning Britain replacements - slider
Alex Beresford
It would be quite the turn of events if Alex Beresford replaced Piers, given that their on-screen row caused him to storm off set before announcing his departure but that's exactly what some viewers have called for after Alex called out Piers' comments about Meghan Markle.
Jeremy Clarkson
Another of Piers' foes who has been tipped to replace him is Jeremy Clarkson. Jez, who was reportedly once involved in a punch-up with Piers, fuelled the fire last night when he tweeted, "People of America. You sent Piers Morgan back to the UK. Now look what we've sent back to you. Ha. We win."
Gemma Collins
The GC is no stranger to Good Morning Britain, having made a number of viral appearances on the show over the years, and some fans have called for her to get a permanent role now that there's a vacancy on the panel.
Bimini & Tayce
RuPaul's Drag Race UK fans have suggested that queens Bimini and Tayce should replace Piers after impressing as breakfast TV hosts in the Morning Glory challenge a few weeks ago and we're SO here for it, tbh.
Rylan Clark-Neal
After proving his daytime TV chops on This Morning over the years, Rylan's hotly tipped to be in the running to join the GMB panel. He'd definitely bring the fun factor to early mornings.
Trisha Goddard
After her epic takedown of Piers on Good Morning Britain earlier this week, fans have suggested Trisha should replace him alongside Susanna Reid. She ruled daytime TV for years with her morning talk show Trisha so she'd be right at home.
Gogglebox's Jenny and Lee
They keep the nation entertained on Friday nights and now a viral tweet has called for Gogglebox "legends" Jenny and Lee to replace Piers on Good Morning Britain. They definitely get our vote.
Ranvir Singh
Ranvir hosted Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid the morning after Piers' departure was announced, although ITV claimed she was always scheduled to appear on the show. She'd make a great permanent replacement though, and we'd love to see two women host the show.

"He immediately burst into tears, there was a lot of hugging and got him inside. He absolutely knew he was home."
Although the decision has been made to continue Derek’s care at home, Kate admits that he’ll still need round-the-clock attention.
"I think anybody whose husband or loved one has been in hospital for a long time, what you want is for them to be home," she continued.

Kate Garraway's husband tests negative for Covid after 10 weeks in ICU - but may never recover
"It’s been a lot of discussions, even before Christmas about what is the best way to go, because it’s kind of balancing… it’s a very unique situation, Derek’s situation.
"It's been about looking at his cognition and looking at his consciousness, and trying to think about what would be the best way to improve that."
She added, "It does feel a little bit like the hospital has come home with me at the moment, as we’ve got all sorts of professional people making sure everything is safe and then see how being in the family environment could help."
