Kate Ferdinand has broken down in tears about her family and not having a ‘manual on how to be a step-mum’.
The 27-year-old former TOWIE star – who tied the knot with former footballer Rio Ferdinand during a secret ceremony in Turkey last year – has opened up about taking on the role of mother to Rio’s three children, Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and Tia, eight, and revealed that she just wants their kids to be ‘happy’ in a trailer for the pair’s upcoming documentary, Becoming A Stepfamily.
Rio, 41, is heard telling his wife: “There ain’t no manual on how to be a step-mum.”
An emotional Kate then adds: “It’s hard for us so I can’t imagine how hard it is for the kids.”
Sobbing, Kate continues, “I just want the children to be happy.”
The much-anticipated documentary will follow Kate’s journey as she integrates into the family and becomes a step-mother to Rio’s three kids after the Manchester United legend tragically lost his wife, Rebecca Ellison, to breast cancer in 2015.
In the months leading up to their wedding, the documentary follows, Kate’s journey into motherhood with the memory of Rebecca still very much present.

Rio previously starred in a documentary about his life as a single father, titled Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum And Dad, which subsequently won a BAFTA in 2017.
Rio and Kate said of the new documentary: "The positive response to Being Mum And Dad in 2017 and the way it helped others going through a similar situation was overwhelming.
"For that reason we were both compelled to tell the next chapter in our lives together.
"We hope Becoming A Step Family will give a unique insight into step-families and the journey through grief, whilst also providing an intimate look at our lives together."
Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily will air on Monday 10 February at 9pm on BBC One.
