Kanye West allegedly rants about Taylor Swift in a leaked tape

Kanye West shocked fans at the 2009 MTV VMAs when he infamously interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the show. Now an audio recording that allegedly captured the 36-year-old rapper slamming the 23-year-old singer has surfaced.

In the unverified clip, published by Gawker on Thursday, Kanye – or someone that sounds convincingly like him – is reportedly overheard saying:

‘Taylor Swift cannot win over Beyoncé! Because I wrote my verse [to "Run This Town"] in two days, Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé,’

'Taylor Swift cannot beat Beyoncé’

‘As long as I'm alive! And if I'm alive, kill me then! Kill me then! As long as I'm alive, you gon' have to deal with it. 'Cause there ain't gonna be no more motherf--king Elvises with no James Browns.’

The alleged audio was supposedly secretly taped after the ceremony while Kanye was at dinner at the Corner Bistro in New York.

The Heartless rapper went on to claim that his mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2008 from complications while undergoing plastic surgery ‘died for this fame shit.’

'My mother died for this fame sh*t!'

‘My mother died for this fame sh_t! I moved to f**kin’ Hollywood chasing this sh_t. My mother died because of this sh*t. F**k MTV,’ the rapper allegedly added.

Kanye is also heard blasting singer Pink’s performance at the VMAs.

‘How the f--k Pink perform two songs and I didn't even get asked to perform "Heartless." "Heartless" is the biggest song of the year!,’ he angrily complained.

The rapper has apologised multiple times since the incident in which he rushed the stage while Taylor was accepting her award for Best Female Video to tell the world that he thinks Beyonce should have won.

Writing on his now-defunt blog after the ceremony:

‘I feel like Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents when he messed up everything and Robert DeNiro asked him to leave...That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.’

The rapper’s representatives have yet to comment on the audio’s authenticit.

The recording comes after the I Knew You Were Trouble singer seemingly referenced Kanye in a Twitter post on Wednesday.

Acknowledging her nominations for this year’s VMAs, Taylor tweeted:

‘Two VMA nominations!! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time ;) http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/
