In an interview with Access Hollywood, the Biebs admitted that he still loves Selena ‘dearly’ and will ‘never stop loving her.’
‘I don’t think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally,’ Bieber said wisely.
‘We always respected each other and we still respect each other.’
But despite feeling philosophical about his future, Bieber said that he still isn’t over the relationship - which finally ended in 2014.
Selena and Bieber became friends in 2009 on the music scene, but didn’t confirm they were dating until two years later.
Their four year relationship was under constant scrutiny from the media, with the pair breaking up and getting back together several times.
Heartbreakingly, Bieber admits that he probably met the singer too young.
‘Yeah, I wrote a song [that] didn't make the album, it was called 'If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years.' How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that.’
But he left the door open for the future, admitting ‘I don’t know what is going to happen…I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other.’
