After a string of run-ins with the law, Justin Bieber seems to be taking stock of his life.

And on Thursday night, the Baby singer took to his social media accounts to thank his local town mayor, Dan Mathieson.

The Mayor of Stratford recently spoke up in defence of the troubled singer, saying: “As far as I’m concerned, he is a 19-year-old person who has made some errors.

"I don’t condone them, but I also understand that we all have made errors in our life. I hope for his sake that he can get a reset, and get back to music and doing what he loves.”

And his words clearly struck a chord with Bieber, as the star tweeted a message of gratitude:

Justin also made sure to praise his dad, who has recently been criticised as a "bad role model" for the star, calling him "the greatest dad in the world".

Posting a photo of his father on Instagram, he captioned it: "I have the greatest Dad in the world. He's taught me how to love, learn, and stay true to myself. I will forever be grateful because he was my superehero #batman"

The outpour of appreciation comes as the teen is currently taking a little respite at home in Canada with his father and siblings following a controversial few weeks.

And, as his father put it, the 19-year-old is now "safe and sound" with his family:

Fingers crossed that, now the teen is relaxed and back home with people who love him, he can get himself back on the straight and narrow.
