Josie Gibson has been open about some of the more extreme diets she has been on during her life but the This Morning presenter has now told Closer that she ‘can’t mess around’ with her body anymore after embarking on a throwback lifestyle regime for her new show.
Josie has travelled back in time to take on The 1970s diet, which will see her eat, drink and live like we did 50 years ago.

She said, ‘I took on the 1970s diet because people were a lost smaller then than they are now, but the diet wasn’t exactly that healthy which was really strange.
‘I learnt so much about the 1970s but so much about myself in the meantime too. What an era they lived through, they are totally different people.
‘We are so lucky, we can just pop into the supermarket and get anything we want, we can get food from all over the world delivered at the click of a button.
‘We have so many choices for food when we walk down the high street, but back in the 70s life was a lot similar and they didn’t have any of those things.'

She went on to say, ‘If they wanted a cooked meal, they’d have had to cook it themselves.
'Socially, things were very different, the woman would be the glue of the family, and the man would go out and work. There was a bigger sense of community, it was a real eye opener.’
Discussing past diets she has been on, mum-of-one Josie told us, ‘I’ve been on the Cambridge Diet and I ate about a week’s worth of food on the way home from the meeting. Some people love it but I just can’t get on with it.
‘I’ve done everything, I’ve taken diet tablets back in the day. I have done some extreme things, but I can’t mess around with my body anymore. I cannot mess around with my metabolism, so I am where I am.’
