Joey told the MailOnline: ‘we're still friends. We never had a relationship anyway, we were never a couple, we just really got along in the jungle.’
He continued: ‘we’re not in a relationship and we never were.’
It was thought that Joey and Amy had enjoyed a short romance after flirting heavily with each other throughout their time in the I’m a Celeb jungle.
It was then reported that the couple had broken things off during the festive period.
Amy had recently implied that there was more to the failed romance than met the eye.
She told The Sun: ‘I still fancy him, but I don’t want to be the next Katie Price and Peter Andre. Joey changed when we left the jungle, he was more of a man than boy.’
She continued to suggest that a relationship had been on the cards: ‘we spent the rest of the time in Australia engulfed in each other. It was so lovely to have these feelings.’
Following the reports that Joey and Amy had allegedly called time on their rumoured ‘romance,’ Joey was spotted grabbing dinner with a mystery brunette.
He explained: ‘she was just a little sort but it was nothing serious at all. She loved the chicken wrap, that's all I'm saying. I might see her again.’
Joey’s ex-girlfriend, TOWIE co-star Sam Faiers, is currently starring in Celebrity Big Brother.
Joey was kind about his Essex girl ex, but admitted he wasn’t going to be tuning into the reality TV show.
'I did watch Sam go into the house, but I can't watch the rest of the show because I'm in South Africa filming my TV show. I think she will do well though.’
Joey was in Africa filming a one-off TV special which is due to air later this year.
