The alleged split comes despite assumptions that the couple would be cashing in on their budding romance.
The source continued: ‘ITV hoped they would stay together and star in their own show, but now it won’t happen. Things fizzled out towards the end of December.’
The couple met as contestants on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and the nation watched as they flirted with one another throughout the series.
Since, however, Joey has been spotted dining with a mystery brunette and Amy shared a twitter pic of her and TOWIE hunk Dan Osborne ringing in the New Year together.
Joey’s ex-girlfriend, fellow TOWIE star San Faiers, had previously called out the romance as a publicity stunt.
She said in a magazine interview: 'I know the real Joey. And I honestly don’t think he really has fallen for her. I think they’ve just developed a good friendship.'
She continued: ‘If they had such a strong connection, why didn't something happen in the jungle? I think they're both trying to keep the hype from the jungle going. I don't believe it.’
