She recently lapped up the sun on a lavish summer holiday, sharing content from the break with her six million Instagram followers – but Stacey Solomon wasn’t prepared for the backlash it caused.
The TV star, 34, jetted off to Turkey’s luxurious Regnum Carya hotel with husband Joe Swash and their blended brood. Sharing pictures of her holiday, Stacey appeared to be having the time of her life – looking especially loved-up with Joe, 42.
However, her posts quickly drew criticism from some of the mum-of-five’s followers. As a backlash gathered pace, one fan wrote, "£27,000 a week for a family of six though. [I’d] never be able to afford that," and another agreed, "That’s more than my annual salary."
After returning back to the UK, Stacey tagged the five-star hotel – which has a private beach and 10 restaurants – on social media, clarifying that she "got money off" the trip through working with agency Super Connector, as well as using Jet2 vouchers to help "save money" on flights.
But our sources say that, despite being upset by the trolling, Stacey was supported by husband Joe who quickly put a smile back on her face. The insider says, "Joe's been a rock for Stacey since they got back from holiday. They're used to trolls – it's been a constant throughout their marriage – so they’ve learnt to support each other and Joe’s always able to help her laugh it off and get her smiling again. She feels she’s been very genuine and open with her followers so if people think she’s done something wrong then he tells her it’s their problem, not theirs."
It’s not the first time Stacey’s getaways have stirred up controversy. After staying at the same resort last year, fans once again criticised the star’s holiday choice – with one writing, "How relatable, a 47K holiday. She doesn’t live in the real world anymore." Responding to the comments, Stacey hit back last year by urging anyone who didn’t enjoy her holiday posts to "unfollow" her account.
