Jeremy McConnell was given a hero’s welcome home by friends as Stephanie Davis was left devastated following his conviction for assault.

Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Jeremy was charged on Friday with assault and handed 20 weeks in prison on a 12 month suspended sentence.

After Jeremy was told he would not be heading to jail, he left Liverpool Crown Court and flew back to his home country of Ireland.

Despite being found guilty, his pals gave model Jeremy a brazenly positive welcome at the airport, cheering and holding up signs which read “not guilty”.

His distraught ex, former Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Davis, who he shares son Caben-Albi with, remained in England and is said to be at “rock bottom” after finding out Jeremy had not been locked up.

A source told The Sun Online: “Steph’s absolutely devastated. No one has ever seen her as low as she is now and everyone is worried about her.

“She’s trying to stay strong for Caben-Albi but it’s been so hard for her to cope recently. Right now she is rock bottom.”

Stephanie, who recently suffered a miscarriage, did not attend Jeremy’s hearing and stayed at home to care for her child.

In a statement released as Jeremy headed to court this week, her spokesperson said: “Stephanie won’t be attending court again today as she will be busy with Caben.

“As a single mother her priority has to be the continued focus on her son.

“We await the sentence news later today with interest.”

Stephanie believed she was going to die after Jeremy lost his temper at the time of the assault earlier this year.

She claimed Jeremy had been drinking at a pub and also shared a bag of cocaine with friends.

When he returned home, he accused her of having a lesbian affair with a pregnant pal and sleeping with a fireman.

Jeremy jumped over Stephanie’s garden fence and tried to kick down her glass back door.

He snapped off the handles and threw them into garden before getting into her home.
