With just a couple of weeks to go before she welcomes her twin girls into her life, Jenny Frost is understandably as nervous as she is excited. After a difficult pregnancy, fraught with morning sickness, she can’t wait to meet her new babies.

“It’s Vinnie’s first time as a dad and he can’t wait, but he’s more excited right now about my new lumps and bumps."

And the singer says her Spanish husband Vicente “Vinnie” Juan Spiteri, 38, who she married last summer, can’t get enough of her changing shape. Jenny, 34 – who is already mum to Caspar, five, from a previous relationship – says: “It’s Vinnie’s first time as a dad and he can’t wait, but he’s more excited right now about my new lumps and bumps.

“I’m nervous about the birth and how I’ll cope with having twins."

“He calls me ‘jamona.’ Apparently, it’s meant to be a compliment and means sexy, curvy woman. But the first time he said it I asked him: ‘Did you just call me a pig or a big piece of ham?’ as the words are quite similar in Spanish. Let’s just say he’s very happy with my extra pounds!”

Jenny, who lives in Ibiza with Vinnie, admits it’s been a real confidence boost. She adds: “Being pregnant is a time when some women can feel insecure, but Vinnie has kept me feeling great about myself. Even though I had my bump on show for this photo shoot, I felt quite sexy, rather than ‘mumsy.’ I’ve got a nice big belly, but I’ve not put on too much weight elsewhere apart from my bum, which I quite like.

“I’d like to say I’ve been watching what I eat, but I’ve felt so poorly with morning sickness, I’ve given in to what my body demands and that’s usually chips and gravy!”

And she says being in love and having a husband who doesn’t care about her size has relaxed her relationship with food.

Jenny, who’s 5ft 8 and has put on around 2st while pregnant, is normally a size 8-10 and between 9st and 9½st. She says: “When I first got together with Vinnie in 2010, I was tiny – about 8½st. It wasn’t a conscious decision to be that thin, but I’d had a bad year. I’d just lost my mum [Rita, 60] to lung cancer and my dog in the space of two months – my two best friends – and I wasn’t in a good place. Being in a relationship with a man who loves me whatever my size means I’ve put on some weight, but that’s fine by me.”

With two kids to add to her brood, Jenny admits she’ll have her hands full. She says: “I’m nervous about the birth and how I’ll cope with having twins. Vinnie has left it up to me to choose names, but Caspar has some interesting suggestions… We’ve had names like Marshmallow and Smudge and, at one point, he wanted to call one of them Lizard!”

And the Atomic Kitten star admits she’s finding her second pregnancy bittersweet without her mum there to support her. She says: “It’s going to be difficult without her. Just silly things like having her there for advice or to look after the kids while I’m at work or for my first night out with the girls.

I’d rather enjoy chips, peas and gravy and have slightly less toned arms!

“I miss her every day. She was amazing, but I talk about her all the time so the babies will know who she is. She’s our angel who makes everything happen for us.”

Refreshingly, Jenny insists she couldn’t care less about snapping back into her skinny jeans after the birth. She reveals: “I’m not really stressed out by that. I’ll be breastfeeding, so I won’t be dieting, as I’ll need to feed two little people. With Caspar, I didn’t diet, I just lost weight naturally, so I’m hoping that will happen again, although it gets harder as you get older.

“There’s a chance I might need a C-section [as it can be a safer option if you’re having twins], so if that happens I won’t be able to do anything afterwards for six weeks. I’ll just have to sit there with two babies stuck to my boobs, or I’ll have an electric double breast pump like a farmyard cow – with Caspar climbing over me calling the girls Lizard!”

Jenny, who’s currently renovating her Ibiza home, isn’t a fan of fad diets or exercise – other than walking her beloved Labrador Fernando on the beach every day. But she says: “If I feel like I’ve put on a bit of weight, I’ll try not to eat so many carbs in the evening. But I never restrict my diet as it just makes me want food more, and I eat twice as much!

“I’d love to be one of those people who loves exercise, but I have to make myself do it. I’d rather enjoy chips, peas and gravy and have slightly less toned arms! I love my red wine and mojitos, when I’m not pregnant.”

With such a busy time ahead, it’s no wonder Jenny isn’t joining her bandmates Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon for the Atomic Kitten reunion TV show at the end of this month. Original member Kerry Katona is taking her place instead – see our chat on p24. She says: “I’m not disappointed about the show as I’d already had to say no because of the timing. It will be nice for Kerry’s kids to see her on stage, whereas Caspar isn’t fussed. I showed him a YouTube clip of Atomic Kitten and he told me it wasn’t very interesting!”

With new babies on the way and a house to finish renovating, 2013 is set to be a fantastic year for Jenny. She adds: “It’s a whole new chapter. I’ve always wanted a noisy, crazy family and we’re definitely going to have that. I’m really looking forward to it.”
