Fans were left shocked by Hollywood star Justin Theroux’s whirlwind wedding to actress Nicole Brydon Bloom in Mexico last weekend.
And after photographs emerged online of the three-day celebration, insiders say his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston has also been left blindsided.
A source says, ‘Jen was really thrown by the news and while she knew he was due to get hitched, she was taken aback to find out by reading it online instead of receiving a heads-up.
‘While they have remained good friends since their split, they understandably avoid talking about their love lives, however, Jen hoped Justin would have at the very least let her know the date as a courtesy, which has left her feeling a little betrayed.’
Justin, 53, first began dating Paradise actress Nicole, 30, back in 2022 after being introduced by a mutual friend at a party. They were then engaged a year-and-a-half later while holidaying in Italy.
Despite keeping their romance low-key, the two have attended several celebrity events together, and Justin didn’t hold back from gushing about his new wife to Vogue magazine, calling himself the ‘luckiest man alive’.
Their wedding comes seven years after Justin’s split from Jennifer, 56. The former couple, who were together for seven years, tied the knot in the garden of their Californian home in 2015, before announcing their split in February 2018.
However, the pair have remained on amicable terms, even holidaying and having dinner together, and the source says Jen is keen to protect their friendship.
They add, ‘In true Jen style, she reached out to offer her congratulations, which are genuine despite her initial shock and upset.
‘Jen’s very happy for Justin and has heard great things about Nicole, but it’s natural to still feel a little stung when an ex goes on to remarry – especially when she’s still single and longing to find The One.’
And after bravely revealing that her own fertility journey, which included IVF, had been a ‘challenging road’, the source says Jennifer is understandably taking time to come to terms with Justin starting his own family with Nicole.
They say, ‘Jen’s heard from mutual friends that they’re planning a family, which has been a bitter pill to swallow given how much she longed to have children with Justin and didn’t have her dream of being a mum.
‘Knowing she’s going to have to brace herself for a pregnancy announcement in the future has been tough and triggering, given she’s been through this before.’
Jen had previously watched on as her first love, ex-husband Brad Pitt, welcomed his first biological child with Angelina Jolie just a year after their divorce in 2005.
Last year, Jen was also said to be ‘hurt’ over reports that Brad, 61, was planning on starting a family with his 32-year-old girlfriend, Inés De Ramón.
But the source says Jen’s friends have been rallying around her, adding, ‘Pals have insisted that his decision to keep it a secret wouldn’t have been out of malice towards her and Jen knows that Justin didn’t mean any harm. She hopes that when her time comes, he’ll be just as happy for her in return.’
