It has been reported that Cheryl's ex Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has been in touch with and hired on of the UK's leading divorce lawyers in a bid to claim as much as £5million of Cheryl's money.
After his previous legal advisors reportedly failed to reach an agreement with the divorce, he has sought the advice of a top divorce lawyer in order to negotiate more money matters.
A friend of Cheryl has told The Mirror that "The legal dispute should have been long finished by now but he clearly wasn't satisfied with what was on the table and has decided to try a new team. She [Cheryl] just wants this settled and to move on with life".
Jean-Bernard and Cheryl have now been separated for a year after a very short marriage, and there have been reports that Cheryl and Liam would like to take their relationship to a new level - something that they are going to find very difficult with the settlement of their assets still looming over Cheryl's head.
The source also made comments to The Mirror about the pair's marriage, saying "They had a lovely time together and for a long time a good marriage, which sadly didn’t work out because over time they found they were quite different people".
Cheryl has a reported fortune of an estimated £16million, but didn't sign a pre-nup before marrying because at the time she said she was "so in love" and that she could not sign a pre-nup... something which she may be regretting now.
