A spokesperson for the couple confirmed the break-up after a source revealed that the pair, who have three daughters together, had ‘decided to part.’
The source told a UK newspaper: ‘They simply grew apart in their marriage and after much discussion they decided to part.
‘They are still good friends and their children are obviously the most important thing to them both.'
'The seperation is entirely amicable and happened last year'
The couple’s spokesperson since revealed that the break up happened last year, with Jason and remaining good friends.
The spokesperson said last night: ‘Jason Manford and his wife Catherine have separated. The separation is entirely amicable and happened last year.’
‘They remain friends and their priority is the future joint parenting of their children.’
‘No further statement will be made and they ask the media to please respect their family privacy at this time,’ the spokesperson added.
The marriage hit a rocky patch in 2010 when the 31 year-old TV star was forced to quit his job as host of the The One Show after being caught exchanging flirty messages with a female fan on Twitter.
At the time, Jason’s wife branded him a ‘d**k head’ but the couple decided to work through their marital problems.
Jason said: ‘Hopefully, me and my wife have another 60 years together. That is the most important thing.’
But in February, the comedian was embroiled in another online sex scandal when a UK newspaper reported that Jason had exchanged 'hundreds of messages' with a another female fan between November 2011 and March 2012.
