Janet Jackson has confirmed the happy news that she is pregnant with her husband, Wissam Al Mana.

The star shared her joy with a photoshoot of the blossoming bump in People magazine.

Talking to US publication, Janet said: "We thank God for our blessing,"

Speculation over her pregnancy began in April this year when Janet revealed to her fans that she would be delaying her Unbreakable tour saying:

“We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change.

“I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour.

“Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now.”

At the time a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Janet was pregnant with her first child.

Janet - who turned 50 in May this year – married husband Wissam in 2012, but didn’t confirm the news until early 2013.

However, some fertility experts have not been so friendly on the news. IVF specialist and fertility expert Dr Devora Lieberman from Sydney’s Genea clinic said:

“When Janet Jackson says ‘We decided to focus on our family’ and two months later she’s pregnant, it makes it look like that’s all you need to do at age 49.

“It’s not helpful for women who are struggling to conceive on their own,” he added.

And many other doctors have suggested that Janet has conceived through an egg donor.

In 2008 when with her then boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, Janet expressed her want for children saying: "I would love to have children of our own, but we also would love to adopt. So, we'll see what happens. It'll happen someday."

So it seems her dream of starting a family has finally come true!

But many fans have already taken to Twitter to congratulate the couple on their happy news…

Congratulations to Janet and Wissam on this happy news!
