James Bye before he was famous

Actor James is from Basingstoke in Hampshire and was born on 23 February 1984 to mother Pauline and father Leonard.

He is the older brother of sister Amy Scarlett Wallace.

James Bye and his early career

James attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and graduated in 2005.

While he is now known for playing Martin Fowler in BBC soap EastEnders, he has previously taken on various roles both on-stage and on-screen.

He has previously appeared in an episode of The Bill and has also appeared in films Cemetery Junction, Hummingbird and The Hooligan Factory.

His theatre roles include the part of Ralph in Tea & Sympathy and Ainger in Young Woodley which was performed at the Finborough Theatre in London.

James Bye in EastEnders

The star first appeared as Martin Fowler in EastEnders in 2014.

He has taken on a number of key storylines in the soap thanks to his on-screen relationship with Stacey Slater, played by Lacey Turner. He was led to believe her son Arthur was his when it was actually Kush Kazemi’s (Davood Ghadami). He has also been seen struggling to cope with Stacey’s bipolar disorder.

James replaced fellow actor James Alexandrou in the role of Martin and pleaded with fans to give him a chance to settle into the soap after joining.

During an appearance on This Morning, he said: “All I ask is give me a chance – give me a couple of months.”

James Bye’s personal life

James married wife Victoria on 4 April 2012 and on 21 October 2013 they welcomed their first child together, son Edward.

Victoria is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child which is due any day now.

A line on his website reads: “In his spare time, James is a keen golfer and sports enthusiast. He also enjoys writing, cooking and spending time with his family.”

He has two dogs, Beefeater and Bombardier.
