Jamelia – who often appears on Loose Women – took to social media yesterday to explain what allegedly happened to her after she overtook a car on the way to a train station.

She started the post: “So, This morning I did a bad thing, I overtook someone as I was driving to the train station. I was running late, and in a rush. Not an excuse, it wasn't the right thing to do.

“I parked up and as my girls and I got out of the car, I noticed the person had followed us, and was shouting ‘Is there something wrong with you you stupid b----, you should have waited!!’”

After explaining to the driver that she was sorry and was trying to catch a train, Jamelia claimed that the man continued to shout abuse.

He reportedly said: “Oh f--- off you stupid black b----, you lot are sickening".

She added that the man got out of his car “in a rage” but as he stepped out his car started to roll and Jamelia took the opportunity to take her girls and head for the station.

However, despite the vile abuse that was said to have been shouted at the Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Jamelia then revealed that the man in question is apparently a police officer.

She added: “Despite my many negative experiences with the police, I have always made a conscious effort to not taint my daughters' view of them.

“I've always wanted my girls to trust & respect the police, and have confidence that they are there for their protection. But I think the police should realise that profiling works both ways, what you display is what you potentially become in the eyes of a child.”

“How can you expect black children to have faith in you if they witness their parents being mistreated like this? It is not OK. My daughters were disgusted with the officer's behaviour, my youngest described him as a "disgrace to his uniform" and my eldest asked, "Shouldn't self-control be the foundation of police training?" and it was then that I felt at ease, knowing that thankfully, my girls judged the individual & not the police force as a whole.”

Her fans were, quite rightly, outraged by Jamelia’s claims and commented on her posts to show their support:

One wrote: “That's TERRIBLE, I just don't get what people gain from them negative attitudes in this day and age.”

Another added: “This is horrendous and in front of her children. 100% wouldn't be able to hold my tongue. But she did the right thing. Sad to know this happened.”

One clearly upset fan commented: “Get on the "loose Women" platform and say something to stop this racist c**p spreading. These animals, in whatever uniform, feel empowered to behave like the scared bullies they've kept wrapped up for so long! [sic]”

Jamelia, whose two daughters are aged 15 and 11, took to Instagram to let her fans know that she had reported the incident to the police and thanked everyone for their support.

She captioned the post: “I Appreciate the messages, also your concern for the girls, They're fine, They're strong and they know the officer was way out of line...

“They still walked into school like this...as they do every day xx I'VE NOW REPORTED THE INCIDENT, THANKS SO MUCH xxx”
