The 26-year-old shot to fame on the ITV singing competition last year, and was mentored by former Spice Girl Mel.
It was confirmed this week that 22-year-old Rita Ora would replace Mel, 39, and Jake has given his opinion on the shake-up.
He told OK! Online: “I’m gutted Mel’s not back, but Simon knows what he wants. I think Rita and Grimmy are fresh and new. Simon knows what he’s doing, and he’s got a lot of cash.”
Despite Mel being cut from the show, Jake admitted he’s looking forward to watching this year.
He continued: “I can’t wait. I’m a fan of the show, I watch it every year, and it just so happens that I’ve appeared on it a few times!”
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, 31, confirmed yesterday that she would be returning to the panel, along with Rita and 30-year-old Nick Grimshaw.
Head judge Simon Cowell is also staying put, and it is thought that he’s spent £8 million on the judges this year.
According to reports, Rita and Cheryl both netted a cool £1.5 million, while Grimmy signed on the dotted line for £1 million.
But, of course, Si is allegedly the highest paid judge – and he’ll earn a reported £4.2 million from the show this year.
