Jailed publicist Max Clifford puts business empire into liquidation

Max Clifford has put his multi-million pound business empire into liquidation from behind bars.

The 71-year-old is facing a fine after receiving a letter from the Inland Revenue about unpaid VAT and corporation tax.

Clifford’s 45-year-old daughter Louise is reportedly overseeing the financial processes.

It was understood that the jailed sex offender hoped Louise would take over the company in his absence, but she has since started up her own PR firm.

The former PR manager- who’s clients included Lauren Goodger and Simon Cowell- may have to pay compensation to his victims through funds raised by his estate.

Clifford was convicted of eight charges of indecent assault on girls as young as 15 between 1977 and 1985.

Following his conviction, Judge Anthony Leonard QC said: “The reason why your crimes were not brought to light sooner was because of your own dominant character and your position in the world of entertainment which meant your victims thought that you were untouchable, something that I think you too believed.”

He was sentenced to 8 years in prison, though it was reported he could be released briefly on compassionate grounds so he can attend his brother’s funeral.
