Former England footballer Ian was covering the World Cup in Brazil when news got to him that four men armed with knives had got into his north-west London home and held his family until making off with valuables.
The 50-year-old tweeted: 'You won't get away with it,' obviously directed at the robbers.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard confirmed they were investigating an aggravated burglary in north-west London that occurred at around 9pm Wednesday night.
'The suspects are described as four black men aged between 18 and 25, with London accents, wearing dark clothing and hoodies obscuring their faces.'
According to The Sun, Ian's wife Nancy had a blade held to her throat, as raider's shouted at one another to 'punch her, kill her.'
Ian Wright's manager Steve Kutner confirmed it was 'a terrifying ordeal. They marched Ian's wife from room to room. I would like to thank ITV for helping Ian to get home as quickly as possible.'
39-year-old mother of two Nancy is thought to have been put in a separate room from the children as the raid took place.
