The former Hollyoaks star, who made a name for herself playing Ruth Osborne in the soap, has revealed her struggle for the first time - saying sun bed sessions are to blame.

Dwyer, who used to present Loose Women, thought her days were numbered after she was diagnosed with stage two malignant melanoma last year.

During a routine checkup, doctors found the cancer - which Dwyer says she is sure came from her excessive use of sun beds as a teenager.

The actress explained emotionally how she thought her kids would be left without their mum.

“I was thinking: ‘Oh my God, my kids - am I going to die like my mum?’”

Terri was left devastated after she lost her mother Doreen to ovarian cancer when she was just 44, and her father to stomach cancer at 50.

But after being given the all clear following a nerve wracking few weeks, Terri has said she feels she’s had a ‘lucky escape.’

Terri is now campaigning to stop young people using sun beds - which when used regularly can increase chances of cancer by 75%.
