Holly Willoughby has bravely opened up about a traumatic childhood health battle which saw her have both legs put in plaster.

The 34-year-old revealed that she was born with short tendons, meaning she had to have her limbs stretched out to stop her from having to walk on her tiptoes.

Speaking during a health segment on ITV’s This Morning, the mum-of-three explained, “When I was a kid, my tendons were really short. I had both legs put in plaster for six weeks to try and stretch it out. I had a lot of physio.”

Holly added: “I had a little thing put in my shoe, like a little in-step to stop the arches. My step wasn’t right.”

She made the revelation during a phone call with a viewer, and was quick to insist that, thanks to the treatment, she is totally fine now.

“Rest assured, for me, having gone through that and the physio, I am absolutely fine now.”

Appearing on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man, Phillip said: “It was something of a mistake. But these things happen. We won the award, which was amazing. I didn’t think we were going to, and then we went back to the box upstairs, and we celebrated with a little tequila.”

The 53-year-old also revealed that it was Holly who encouraged him to stay out all night.

Phillip continued: “There is always one of us that is quite sensible and so I was on my way home and I got a voicemail from Holly. It was like a Martin Luther King voicemail.

“She said, ‘Don’t be that man. Don’t be that man that goes home. Don’t be that man that’s professional. Don’t be the mad that missed the fun. Come out and play!’”
