An exciting announcement has come from Holly Willoughby today, as she shared news about her expanding family.

On This* *Morning with Phil, she said: "Please welcome the new members of the Willoughby family – Teddy and Bluebell... Named by my children I might add, but I was quite happy with those names. I thought they did quite well when you think what it could have been."

"They are really good, they have been really sweet. Teddy is a bit sniffly snuffly and then Bluebell fell asleep somewhere and we couldn’t find her and she had fallen asleep in the Christmas tree."

Holly and her family are clearly in kitten heaven, just in time for Christmas, which is bound to cheer everyone up – after Holly’s beloved Roxy passed away last month.

At the time the family found it very difficult dealing with the death of such a big part of their family – Holly confessed that telling her children their cat had passed away was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do.

Fans were quick to comment on Instagram today, saying how cute the kittens are.

Beechbun said: "They are beautiful. I have 4 ragdoll cats of my own. 2 girls and 2 boys," while bondkl1 commented: "Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel too cute, beautiful fur babies."

However, others who have experience of the breed warned Holly her Christmas tree might be in danger: "Be careful with your Christmas trees @hollywilloughby" said coco-eliabeth_gibb, who suggested the presenter hisses like a cat if the kittens start to climb up it! Apparently ragdoll cats like to climb as high up as they can.

Another fan suggested Holly buy a tower to let them indulge their urge to climb without ruining the furniture!

It seems ragdolls certainly have strong characters – clairekidd20 said: "Oh they look sweet now but my ragdoll was the devil in a lovely fluffy coat!"

Watch out the Willoughby household! We look forward to updates on the antics of Bluebell and Teddy...

What are ragdoll cats?

Ragdolls can live to up to 15 years on average and have a loving, loyal termperament. Full grown animals are a medium size and can weigh up to around 6.5kg. The name "Ragdoll" is derived from the tendency of members of the original breed to go limp and relaxed when picked up.

Ragdoll cats usually cost around £500 and their colours can include seal, blue, red, cream, chocolate, lilac, tortie and tabby.

Breeder Roz Hamilton of Phatpaws Ragdolls in Bedfordshire, told www.yourcat.co.uk: "The Ragdoll is known for his laid-back, floppy attitude. However, they are extremely tenacious. They may be laid-back but not to the point that they're not clever. They're very intelligent and are quick to work things out.

"Ragdolls like to be amused and crave routine. They seek out human companionship at every opportunity and will never be far from your side."

Well we think a new delivery of kittens is just what a family needs in time for Christmas - the kids are going to have some help unwrapping their presents this year!
