Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has made headlines with the dramatic weight loss over the past few months, and has credited controversial supplement brand Protein World to her changing shape.

However, this week Protein World is under fire from women up and down the country.

Following outrage over new adverts asking ‘Are you beach body ready?’ and a petition garnering thousands of signatures, the adverts are now being removed.

Holly, 22, told Mail Online: "I think the whole thing has been taken way too seriously. If people want to put their time to something worthwhile then they should be donating to the disaster in Nepal, woman rights in Africa.

"This is a healthy woman who is posing for a fitness brand, one who exports around the world and supports the economy.”

She also says that the adverts don’t necessarily ‘shame’ those who DON’T look like the super-fit model.

"It's not saying that you have to look like the model on the poster, it's just an illustration of a healthy, fit and toned model who we can admire, not suggesting we all have to look like that. I think she looks fantastic."

Holly also says she believes that "glamorising" obesity and being overweight is ‘damaging’.

Last week Holly endorsed the adverts on her Instagram, sharing a post with the caption: “Check up @proteinworld killing it on the London Underground! Love what they stand for... Fitter, healthier, stronger you□ #inspire #beachbodyready #spon.”
