Kristin Cavallari, who rose to fame after appearing on one of the first reality shows - Laguna Beach - before progressing to The Hills, thanked fans for their support over the past few days, after her brother went missing at the start of the week.
In a statement to E! News, Kristin said: ‘We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time.
‘We’ve just been informed by the authorities my brother’s body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.’
Michael Cavallari, who was aged just 30 years old, apparently had a history of arrests, was a heavy drinker and had a strained relationship with his father.
Police in the state of Utah, where Michael was found, confirmed that his body was found on a steep slope, just off a dirt track.
Cavallari had left the main road and careered down the dirt path, before abandoning his car with the engine running, and appearing to walk back towards the main road again.
His body was found three days after going missing.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kristin, wrote: ‘My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP (sic).’
Just days earlier, Kristin had posted a picture of her and her brother as youths, alongside the caption: ‘I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family. We remain hopeful and I will share any news that we receive. I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support.’
Our hearts go out to Kristin and her family.
