The former Coronation Street star has made no secret over her excitement at becoming a first-time mum, posting plenty of baby bump selfies on Instagram.

A few weeks ago, Helen Flanagan even revealed that, in preparation for her little one’s arrival, even removed her beloved hair extensions in a bid to keep things more practical.

And it seems as if it has had an amazing effect on her tresses.

Scott Sinclair’s girlfriend took to Instagram to show off a photo of the results, writing happily: “So pleased with how much thicker my hair is after taking my extensions out 2 months ago!

“Thank-you pregnancy.”

She added the hashtags ‘#healthyhair’ and ‘#idonthaveafewstrandsanymore’ to her caption, alongside a VERY smiley emoticon.

However a few experienced mums were quick to jump in with a few words of advice over what Helen’s hair would be like AFTER her baby’s arrival.

One wrote: “It's great when pregnant but prepare to loose that extra hair when your baby is 3/4 months.”

“Hair is always amazing when pregnant, but don’t be worried when you lose clumps after birth. Apparently you don’t lose much hair in pregnancy so it comes out after,” advised another.

Another added: “My hair fell out when both my boys were about 3 month old; this continued for about 3 months, then I had the re growth sticking up all over the place!”

But one, clearly wanting to share some light at the end of the tunnel, informed Helen sagely: “Be prepared after giving birth at how much hair you lose, it's a shock at first but completely normal. Good luck!”

They’re not wrong, sadly; during pregnancy, changes in your hormone levels cause your hair to stay in a resting phase for longer, so you lose less hair on a daily basis.

Hence the thickness!

However, after you've given birth and your hormones have settled down — usually at about 12 weeks after delivery — more hair shifts into a shedding phase.

This can lead to you losing about 500 hairs a day, which can be very disturbing, but try not to worry too much — you won't go bald!
